驚くことに、この卵は夜には尾芽胚となり、翌日にはオタマジャクシとなって泳ぎ出ていた。
I was surprised that “this egg became the cercembryo at night and hatched on the next day”.

5月後半からこの状態の卵を撮りたくてさんざん撮影に通ってきた。
しかしこの活き活きとした卵はなかなか見つけることができなかった。
Because I wanted to take the egg which was in this state, I photographed it all the time near a water hole from the latter half of May. However, I was not able to readily find this egg which I had lively.

先に孵化したオタマジャクシや、水生小動物にどんどん食べられる。
おまけにこの異常なまでの孵化までの早さ。
さすが夏産卵のカエルならではの戦略が見事。
This egg is eaten steadily by “the ladle which hatched earlier” and an aquatic small animal. In addition it is very early that this egg hatches. A strategy only by a frog laying eggs in summer is wonderful.
