Japan is the country which is very long in the north and south. And a country is an island not a continent. Even if the same creatures of lives in various places, they have an original genetic trait in various places. Japanese rat snake (Elaphe climacophora) inhabits from Tokara-islands Kuchinoshima island of the subtropical zone to Hokkaido of the subarctic zone.

Subdivision advances to the Japanese animal taxonomy with reptiles and amphibians in particular. A creature considered to be the same kind becomes the another kind or the other subspecies so far.Perhaps it will be understood various differences from the differences of the molecule level that I cannot distinguish with the eyes when a study advances from now on.

This Japanese rat snake was the snake which I came across first in 2008. The part of Japanese rat snake of Hokkaido has little blackness, and lime-green and a sky-blue individual are seen. I guess, as for the snake, the individual group that lives in the northern part or the alpine belt has a lot of color mutations of the same kind though. (The remarkable ones are Japanese rat snake, Japanese four-lined rat snake and Japanese forest rat snake. )

I love snakes. As for me, it is regretably thing that I live in the cold area with a few snakes. However, recently, I came to have the snake felt the charm that exceeded the
number of seeds and the number of individuals. (:

Good job!

I caught Adult Ezo saamander fainally! The sample of the skin mucous membrane of adult Ezosanshouuo was necessary forthe detection experiment of the Chytridiomycosis. So I could catch a mature form and felt relieved very much. If you want to know “Chytridiomycosis”, information will be found when you search WEB which are words of “Chytridiomycosis” and “CDC”.

Adult Ezo salamander

Juvenile Ezo salamander

Have a break?

I am tired from looking for a salamander recently. I had the creature other than the salamander observed this time.It became a very good rest.

Common Dandelion and Ant sp.

I am impatient

I must catch adult Ezo salamander for resarch. But I cannot meet them by unseasonable weather. I am impatient.

Asian skunk cabbage

As for photographing it without catching the kind of the lizard, “Tactics” are important. As much as the lizard is in particular a rare kind.

The Amur grass lizard (Takydromus amurensis) may not be a rare kind worldwide. However, they live in only Tsushima island of Nagasaki prefecture in Japan. There is not many number of times that we see them whether you tend to prefer forests to a Japanese grass lizard (Takydromus tachydromoides).

It is a few days that I can stay to take photograph in Tsushima. The Amur grass lizard which I can observe in the meantime is around 10. I must have tactics at lizards over “the safe distance”, if I want to take it to the photograph which I can be satisfied with.

It is a moment that they run away. Even if there is distance with me 5m when I offend them, they escape into the gap.

As for this photograph, I discover him at distance of 10m, and spent 15 minutes, approached up to 1m, and taken. I am neither in a hurry, do not move suddenly, approach slowly by low posture, and approach him gradually. If a person understanding nothing watches this scene, the person will surely think me to be an eccentric.

As for the tactics of this time, I won. 🙂

Season started

A season of the animals which were good at me as a photography target began. I become gladder from now on when I think that it increases that they come out.

Ezo brown frog

Corydalis ambigua

White goose

Because it was about time when Goose returned to the north, I did my best and went for an outing. There were many goose. However, the willpower in search of a rare kind (lesser white-fronted geese etc…) did not have me from that. I reported it in that because I found two wild geese which bound a neck with a mark. However, I lost physical strength very much. When return, I wearily.

Greater White-fronted Goose

Common Redpoll

A part of Albino

I thought that he seemed to be a bullet. Because a feather is very minute, I am different from the soft feeling in Wax wing sp, and he seems to be a bullet. Because the point of the tail is yellow, they are called “Ki renjyaku” in Japan. It is the meaning that “Ki” calls yellow. The kind that the point of the tail is red is called “Hi renjyaku” with the same kind. “Hi” is a meaning of the red.

There seems to be no resistance of the wind, and he flies away like a bullet, but is not too good at the way of flying. He can flap hard and do neither the gliding nor the rapid turn. He look alike White-cheeked Starling (Sturnus cineraceus) and how to fly well. And, the sizes of them are also almost the same. I sometimes make a mistake when he fly alone.

Spring on the ground

I did an interview of the work. And I did Fielding because I went out after a long absence. The fresh air is delicious!
It has not been felt in the migratory bird yet in spring. However, the Japanese skunk-cabbage came out, too a lot of jumping spiders ran on the dead leaf, and the song of Ezo brown frog “Cara-Cara” was heard from far away. I am surely felt to come there by me in spring.

Ezo brown forg’s fresh eggs

You might be able to see A kind of Holly blue comparatively well in Japan. They quickly fly about by a small body. Therefore there is few me in the chance that can take a close-up photograph with them.

A lot of fine hairs have grown in its wing when this photograph is seen. There are a lot of things which hair grows to other insects. However, I have a feeling that hair seems to be a bird and a mammalian characteristic and am surprised a little when hair grows to the invertebrate including the insect. (Even with a Japanese rhinoceros beetle (Trypoxylus dichotomus) such as the beetle, hair grows to the back.)

The hair of butterfly’s wing might be useful for something of not “Thermal insulation” purpose but “Flight”.
