このカエルも、特に珍しい生き物ではない。
This is not a rare creature.
でも、一滴の雨粒が写真を面白くしてくれた。
But one drop of rain made a photograph interesting.
予期しないことも起こるから、やっぱりたくさん撮らなくちゃね。
Because what I did not expect happened, I had better take photo a lot.

私は大空を飛ぶ動物を見ると「自由」を連想する。
When I see the animal that flies over the sky, I associate “Freedom”.
おそらくそれは、植えつけられたイメージだと思う。鳥にとっては大空を飛ぶのは当たり前のこと。人間が空中で不自由にしか動けないので憧れているんだろう。
Perhaps, I think that it is an image imprinted to me. It is natural for the bird to fly over the sky. Because it is difficult for man to move in the sky, we might be yearning.
しかし、魚にも感じるのは何故なんだろう。水の外では彼らも不自由なはずなのに。
However, I feel it for the appearance that a fish flies similar. Though they should be inconvenient outside the water, too.

実害はないが、存在が不快な生物を「ニューサンス(Nuisance)」と呼ぶ。たとえば、ユスリカ。血は吸わないが、大量に群れて蚊柱を作る。目や口に入りやすい。たとえばテントウムシ。秋に群れて林縁の家に押し寄せる。集団越冬のためだが、入られる家にとっては不快だ。
An unpleasant creatures to exist is called “Nuisance” though it is not harmful. For example, non-biting midges. They do not suck the blood, but crowd in large quantities. They may enter our eyes and mouth. For example, ladybug. They crowd in autumn and come over in the house of the forest relationship.
ニューサンスは、駆除する必要はない。だから駆除に関する商品は少ない。
The nuisance need not be exterminated. Therefore, the commodity concerning exterminating is few.
しかし、はなはだ不快に感じる人にとっては実害ともいえる。
However, they are said that it will harm for the person who feeling them very unpleasantly.
可愛いキタキツネでも、都会に住む人では実害はない。しかし、写真のように鹿の足を運んでその辺に置いて行くという意味ではニューサンスかも。ニューサンスには迷惑という意味もある。
Lovely fox is not harmful in the person who live in a city. However, is the fox a nuisance in the meaning that they leave in the neighborhood of the deer-foot like a photograph?
郊外ではゴミあさり、エキノコックス媒介の可能性など実害もある。害獣である。
They hunt for garbage, and there is possibility of the echinococcus mediation harm, in the suburbs. They are a harmful animal.
害獣、ニューサンス、益獣。その呼び方は人間の目から見下した呼び方。不快であろうが、害があろうが、その生き物のDNAが人間にとって不都合な情報を持っているだけ。
A harmful animal, a nuisance, an useful animal. The how to call is how looked down on from human’s eyes to call. Even if they are harmful even if they are unpleasant, the DNA of the creature has inconvenient information for a human.

自身の考えを貫き通すこと。
努力、根性、誠実。
To keep own idea to the last minute. Effort, spirit, and sincerity.
いわゆる美徳とされた、日本人の価値観。
しかし、時代は流れる。
The Japanese regarded these as virtue. However, the times go by.
今の自分の自身の考え。
貫き通そうと思う自分の考え。
それは「時代に合わせて自分の考えを変えること」
刻々と変わる蛇の姿勢のように。
The thought of present own of me. My thought to keep to be able to continue. It is “changing my thought according to a time.” Like the posture of a snake changing every moment.
矛盾するけれど、これ、意外と大切なのではないだろうか。
I think that this is unexpectedly important though it contradicts.

例外ばかりのハコネサンショウウオ。
The Japanese Clawed Salamander has a lot of exceptions.
サンショウウオなのにカエルみたいな顔。
It sees it like the face like the frog though it is a salamander.
両生類は、子供のとき水中でえらで呼吸し、
大人になると肺で呼吸するから、水でも陸でも生きる「両生類」なんだよ。
そう子供の頃、教わった。。。のに。
The amphibians breathe with gills underwater at juvenile and breathe by lungs when they become an adult. I learned so it in a childhood. However …
彼が大人になったとき、肺を持っていない。
しかし、えらも持っていない。
When he became an adult, he does not have lungs. However, he doesn’t have the gills either.

もしかしたら、ややこしいポストになるかも知れないので、簡潔に。サイトのトップにも掲載するのはやめておきました。
It writes concisely because it is likely to become a confusing post possibly.
外来種。これらは、日本の野生動物にとって脅威だ。
日本も特定外来生物など法律を作って、新たな外来種が増えないように、あるいは駆除など視野に入れて政策を進めていくつもりのようだ。
A naturalized species. These are threats for wild animals of Japan. Japan makes a law about the naturalized species. The law is aimed at new naturalized species not increasing.
タイワンリスも、日本では外来種。でも、こんな姿を見てしまうと、胸が締め付けられる。親リスに子リスがすがり付いているが、親リスはもう死んでいる。このあと30分、子リス2匹が親リスから離れようとしなかった。
子リスも何度も行きかう車におののいていた。
The Taiwan squirrel is a naturalized species in Japan, too. But my chest is tightened when I watch such a figure. A child squirrel clings to a parent squirrel, but the parent squirrel is already dead. For 30 minutes, two child squirrels were not going to be separated from a parent squirrel after this. The child squirrel shuddered with the car which came and went many times.
外来種と言っても、2種類ある。自分の意思（のようなもの）で入ってくる外来種と人間に連れてこられる外来種。前者は、人間がいなくても気候の変動などに伴って、いずれ分布を拡大するだろう。後者は、人間さえいなかったら、問題を起こさなかっただろう。
“The naturalized species” has it of two kinds. One is a creature that invades in their intentions. Another is a creature that man brought. Even if there is not a human being as for the creature which invaded for one’s intention, they will enlarge distribution sometime soon. The creature which a human being brought tended to cause a problem, but would not cause a problem when there was not even a human being.
外来種の駆除。駆除が強く叫ばれている。私も、駆除すべき動物は多いと考えている。でも、かれらにも命がある。駆除をするということは、命を奪うと言うこと。誰かが奪うと言うこと。
The extermination of the naturalized species. The extermination is strongly demanded. I think that there are many animals which I should get rid of.
But they have life. It is to take life to get rid. It is that somebody takes life.
遺体を発見し、数枚写真を撮って暗い気持ちになったあと、しばらくその場を離れた。戻ると、子リスはもういなかった。私は、親リスの死体を、道路縁の草地に放置した。
I left the place for a while after I discovered a corpse, and I took several pieces photographs, and having felt gloomy. When I came back, there was not the child squirrel anymore. I left the corpse of the parent squirrel in the grassland of the road edge.

最初に書いておきます。このオオルリボシヤンマ捕まえてから、木に止めて撮りました。見る人が見ると、すぐにわかる。不自然な感覚がイメージに込められている。
I am writing the result first. After it had been caught, this dragonfly was perched to the tree. An unnatural sense is put in the image in this photograph.
ヤンマのとまり方。それはアカネなどの赤とんぼのそれとは明らかに違います。ヤンマは飛ぶ事に特化し、止まることに重点を置いていない。だから、アカネのように体を地面と平行に止めることができず、多くの場合ぶら下がるようにして止まる。
The dragonfly is different in way of perching of by a kind. Because it is difficult for this dragonfly to do posture in parallel with the ground, he hangs in many cases and perches.
オオルリボシヤンマは美しいヤンマです。飛び回っているので、（私には）普通には簡単に撮れませんし、（私には）止まっている姿もなかなか見ることができません。私はヤンマの止まり方は知識として持っていました。この写真はそのイメージに近づけたつもりだったが、ヤンマに対する経験不足が「不自然」を醸し出すのだろう。
This dragonfly is very beautiful. Because he flies about, the photograph cannot be taken easily, and I cannot also see his perching appearance easily. I had the way of perching of these dragonflies as knowledge. I intended to have brought this photograph close to the image, but my lack of experience for this dragonfly will express “Unnatural” of this photograph.
これは「やらせ」です。「やらせ」はよく、批判の矢面に立たされることがあります。しかし、「やらせ」は悪いことでしょうか。
This is “make-believe”. There is often that “the make-believe” is criticized. However, will “the make-believe” be bad?
一番の悪は、「やらせ」に嘘を含ませること。不自然な「やらせ」を、自然状態であると捏造すること。図鑑などでこういうことは、なるべくないほうがいい。見る人に誤った情報を伝えかねない。
It is to contain “make-believe” in a lie to be the worst. It is to tell a lie that it is an actual state by unnatural “make-believe”. The photograph may convey wrong information to a looking person.
頭の中のイメージをそのまま写真に出来る能力は羨ましい。「やらせ」も極めれば「自然」になる。野生の環境を忠実に再現するのも「技術」であり、「芸術」だと思う。いや、野性の環境にこだわらなくてもいい。頭の中のインパクトのあるイメージを実像化する能力はとても欲しい。
I am enviable the person who has the ability that a photograph just has for an image in the head. If photo-skill improves, “the make-believe” becomes “nature”. I think that to reproduce wild environment faithfully is “skill”, and it is “art”. I may not need to be particular about wild environment. I want the ability to make an image with the impact in the head a real image very much.
私の撮影のテーマの生き物はヘビ。完全な自然の状態でリラックスしたヘビの姿を撮るのは非常に難しい。普通に「やらせ」をせざるを得ないときもある。彼らが私に気が付けば逃げてしまうからだ。
A creature of the themes of my photography is a snake. It is very difficult to take the figure of a snake relaxed in a natural state to me. I must sometimes do “make-believe”.
The reason is because they escape if they notice me.
写真を撮るとき、フィールドに出るとき。私はヘビの自然の状態を目と脳に焼き付ける。そしてその状況を忠実に再現できる技術も磨きたいと思っている。
When I take a photograph… When I go to the field… I memorize the natural state of the snake in my eyes and my brain. And I want to improve in “the skill” that can reproduce the situation faithfully.
生き物を撮るとき、どこまでが「やらせ」だと考えますか？
捕まえた後、別の場所に移動して撮る。
捕まえた後、捕まえた場所で撮る。
相手が明らかにこちらの姿を確認して緊張している姿を、逃げられる前に撮る。
相手はこちらに気づいているが、リラックスをしている姿を撮る。
相手は全く気づいていない。その姿を撮る。
相手が鳥であったり、爬虫類であったり昆虫であったり。それによっても「やらせ」のイメージは違うし、個人個人での「やらせ」と感じるボーダーラインも違う。
私は面倒くさいから、全部の写真に「やらせ」かどうかを説明するつもりはないです。ただ、誤解を招きかねないときには、説明するようにしています。この写真は「やらせ」です。
もちろん私は、この写真のカラーが好きだ。次は、もっと自然な「やらせ」を出来るようになるかもしれない。もっと経験を積まないと。
This photograph is “make-believe”. I like colors of this photograph. I may come to have the nexts by more natural “make-believe”. I should acquire more experience.

日本には、龍と呼べるほどの大きく立派な爬虫類は元来生息していない。日本人の中でも、龍のイメージは様々あるだろうが、私のイメージではこれが一番近い。
The big reptiles which we can call “Dragon” do not inhabit Japan. (In native.) Even if the Japanese has the image of various “Dragon”, this is the nearest for my image.
西洋での「龍」は翼があったり、首が長く、巨大なものが多い。対して日本の「龍」は細長く、角や髭が生えている。
As for “Dragon” in the West, there are a lot of one that it is alar, and the neck is long, and the body is huge. On the other hand, “Dragon” of Japan is long and slender, and has horns and the beard have grown.
私も名前に「龍」を持っている。いずれ私も龍になれるだろうか。未だ「井の中の、桶の中の、柄杓の中の蛇」ですが。
I am not strong and am not big like “Dragon”. Like this Ground gecko that I want to be strong in only the feeling.

ヘビで太陽をバックにした逆光写真も撮ってみたいと思っていた。きっとチャンスはこれからもあると思うのだけど、日本の昼ヘビは地べたにいる事が多いので太陽バックの写真は難しい。
I thought that I wanted to take it of the backlight photograph of the snake that backed the sun. Hereafter, I will surely have the chance. However, it is difficult for me to take the photograph of the snake that backs the sun because there are a lot of the snake that acts in the daytime of Japan on ground.
コンクリ地面からの照り返しでの逆光写真は面白みを感じないのだけど、濡れた地面は反射が均一じゃないから面白いです。撮る人間はドロドロになりますが。
I do not feel interest in the backlight photograph of the reflection from concrete ground. However, it is interesting in me because wet ground doesn’t reflect uniform light. Though man who takes the photograph becomes muddy.
跳ね水が逆光を受けて、火花のように散っていました。
Splash water caught the backlight and was scattered like a spark.

這う生き物は、フィールドサインに乏しい。こういう、尻尾を引きずった跡が残っていれば、姿はなくともカメが生きているのがわかる。
Creeping creatures do not show many Field signs. If there is the sign which dragged their tail even if I do not find their figure, I understand that a turtle lives in there.
でも、亀はお堀や公園の池で、見かけることがほとんど。そこに泥質の地面は少なく、フィールドサインは残らない。
But, in the case of most, it is a pond of a park that we watch a turtle. Because there is not mud in there, they do not show a field sign.
私が田んぼでニホンイシガメを初めて見たとき、草ヤブを走り抜けるカメの足音、カメが泥にどんどん潜って行く姿、泥の上のキャンバスに描かれる彼らのフィールドサインに私は感動した。
When I see the Japanese Pond Turtle for the first time in the rice field, I was impressed by the footsteps of the tortoise which could finish running a grass thicket, by the figure that a tortoise went into the mud steadily, by their field sign drawn on the canvas on the mud !
