場所をとらずコンパクトでありながら、表面積が大きく、水から酸素を貰い易い。
The shape that the whirl is compact. But surface area is big, and the egg case is easy to get oxygen from water.

渦は素晴らしい。
The whirl is great.

葉とカエルは相性がいい。
葉っぱを傘代わりにしているカエルのイメージ、簡単に湧くよね？
そういう象徴化されている絵をよく見かける。
The frog is congenial to a leaf. Are you easy to image “a frog to use a leaf for as an umbrella” ? I see pictures done such a symbolization of well.

写真撮っているときは、背景に気付かないこともある。
特に夜の撮影の時は背景にはほとんど気が行かない。
この時もハナサキガエル以外は目に入っていなかったと思う。
When the photograph is taken, I do not occasionally notice the background. Especially at night, I am not considerate in the background at the time of taking a picture almost. I do not think that I caught my eye excluding the frog at this time.

背景に気づいてしまうと、構図を考えたりし始めて
なんだか凝り固まった写真になってしまうことも。
この写真は偶然性がとても高いけど、気に入っている写真です。
When I notice the background, I begin to think about the composition. Then, the photograph that I take often becomes an awkward photograph. I like it though the contingency of this photograph is high.

小型のサンショウウオひとつとっても、それぞれ人の好みがある。私は止水性のサンショウウオより、渓流性のサンショウウオのほうが好きだ。なんとなく、止水性サンショウウオのほうが顔がいかつい気がする。この写真は止水性サンショウウオのひとつ、エゾサンショウウオです。
What kind of small salamander do you like? I like mountain-stream salamanders better than still-water salamanders. A still-water salamander feels me somehow the face is stern. This photograph is ezo salamander that is one of the still-water salamanders.

同じエゾサンショウウオでも変異が大きい。真っ黒な奴。金のラメの入ったやつ。尾に黄色い線の入ってるやつ。紫っぽいやつ。顎が異様に張ってるやつ。
There are a lot of mutations in ezo salamander. Jet-black one.  Gold Lame one. Yellow line tail one. Purplish one.

動物を見るときは1つ見て満足するなかれ。たくさん見て、個性を見抜け。
You must not be satisfied that you watch only one of them when you watch an animal. Look a lot and see through personality.

あなたの好みの異性の顔があるように、嫌いな生き物でも、好みの顔がいるかもしれない。
You are sure to have the face of the opposite sex of the favor. The creature that thinks that you are hated might have the face of the favor.

残念ながら、結婚してもいいほどの好みのエゾサンショウウオには
出会えていない。この個体は、鑑賞して楽しむくらいの好み。
Unfortunately I cannot come across favorite ezo salamander as I may marry. Preference so as I appreciate this individual, and to enjoy it.

サンショウウオの生態写真をきれいに撮るのは非常に難しい。
It is very difficult to take salamander’s habits photograph beautifully.

サンショウウオは夜行性のうえ隠遁性が強い。そして見られる時期（産卵期）はほとんど水の中、泥の中。
The salamander is nocturnal, and has seclusion characteristics. And time (the breeding season) to be seen with them, most of them in water  and in mud.

フラッシュを焚かず、昼間に撮れるサンショウウオの生態写真は、卵嚢に群がるオスが関の山。
The habits photograph of the salamander that can take it in daytime is a male that crowds the egg capsule.

この個体は、水底の泥の中から掬いだしたオス。写真を撮ってリリースするとほとんどの個体が身近にある物の下にもぐる。この個体はたまたま沢伝いに下流に向かって歩いた。身に接するものが無いせいか、非常に落ち着かない表情に見える。
「早く隠れたい！」
This individual is a male that scooped it from in mud in the bottom of the water. When I took this photograph and released him, he went downstream along a swamp and walked. Most individuals crawl into an imminent thing. The expression that is not settled down very much shows it probably because there is not a thing close against the body. “I want to hide early and early !”

冷水に来るようなサンショウウオを手で持っていると弱る。触るときは手を冷水に漬けたりしながら温度を抑える。手が冷たくて痛くて、撮影を止めることも多い。
When we have salamanders by hand, they weaken. I lower the temperature while soaking a hand in cold water when I touch it. Since a hand is cold and hurts, I stop photography on the way in many cases.

色は全く期待していなかった。
I was not expecting the shade of this photograph.

PLフィルターも持って来るのを忘れた。
I forgot to bring PL filter.

このカエルも、特に珍しい生き物ではない。
This is not a rare creature.

でも、一滴の雨粒が写真を面白くしてくれた。
But one drop of rain made a photograph interesting.

予期しないことも起こるから、やっぱりたくさん撮らなくちゃね。
Because what I did not expect happened, I had better take photo a lot.

例外ばかりのハコネサンショウウオ。
The Japanese Clawed Salamander has a lot of exceptions.

サンショウウオなのにカエルみたいな顔。
It sees it like the face like the frog though it is a salamander.

両生類は、子供のとき水中でえらで呼吸し、
大人になると肺で呼吸するから、水でも陸でも生きる「両生類」なんだよ。
そう子供の頃、教わった。。。のに。
The amphibians breathe with gills underwater at juvenile and breathe by lungs when they become an adult. I learned so it in a childhood. However …

彼が大人になったとき、肺を持っていない。
しかし、えらも持っていない。
When he became an adult, he does not have lungs. However, he doesn’t have the gills either.

私が写真の撮りはじめた頃、いろんな方に興味を持ってもらえた写真。
生き物目線の写真って面白いなと、思えた写真でした。
When I took this photograph, I thought that it was interesting to take a photograph in the angle of the creature.

ちっぽけなのに、恐竜みたい。
Though he is small, he seems to be a dinosaur.
