「脱兎の如く」という日本のことわざがあります。中国から伝わった言葉ですが、「逃げるウサギのように素早く事を成す」という意味です。
In Japan, there is a proverb “Hare that runs away”. This is a word transmitted from China. The meaning is “Do quickly like the hare that runs away. ”

しかし、ニホンノウサギ(Lepus brachyurus)の仔の場合、ちょっと違うようです。
写真のように、逃げずにじっとしている事が多いです。下手に逃げ回るより、じっとして周りの保護色で相手をごまかし、敵をやり過ごす戦法です。Freeze!ですね。本当は、目の前の敵に対して、ものすごいドキドキしてるんでしょうね。この仔もそうでした。写真撮ってて、ごめんね。
However, it seems to differ for of Japanese hare(Lepus brachyurus)’s juvenile. There are a lot of quiet do not run away to way of the photograph things. The strategy of this is a method of cheating in the protective coloration, and overdoing the enemy. It is freeze! This juvenile became tense very much for the enemy faceing. I’m sorry for taking photograph in the presence.

この写真を撮った地域は、ニホンノウサギの亜種、トウホクノウサギと、キュウシュウノウサギが生息していると思われます。積雪期に毛が白くなるか、茶色いままかの差のようです。この仔はどっちの仔なんでしょうね？
As for the region where I took this photograph, Japanese hare’s subspecies, Touhoku hare, and Japanese hare seem to live. The difference is whether the hair whitens at the snowfall period or it is leaving brown. This juvenile might be which?

エゾシマリスは、寒い冬には冬眠します。そして、春になると冬眠から覚め、交尾して子供を生みます。私がこのシマリスと出会ったのは、初夏のころ。必死に餌を拾っては、目の前で食べていました。人なれしているのもあるのでしょうけれど、ものすごい必死で食べていました。
The Siberian chipmunk hibernates in cold winter. And, when it comes spring, she wakes up from hibernation, she copulates, and she has a baby. It was an early summer that I met this Siberian chipmunk. When she desperately picked up food, she was eating in my presence. She ate and she was eating the person desperately in my presence though there might be accustoming.

家に帰って、写真を整理していて気がついたのですが、おっぱいが発達していますね…。授乳期だったのかな。
I returned to the house, and I edited the photograph , I noticed it. Her breast develops. She might have been lactation.

自分のご飯の確保もそうだけど、このシマリスは赤ちゃん達のおっぱいを出すために沢山ご飯を食べなければならなかったんでしょうね。
The purpose of her eating hard is to make the milk that not only was secured my food but also was given to the baby.

雪を食べてのどの渇きを癒す。寒い地域の動物では当たり前の行動なのかもしれない。食べているものが雪であっても、イタチの仲間の食事姿は迫力がある。
Sable is suppressing which dryness that eats the snow. It might be a natural action in the animal in a cold region. Even if the eaten one is a snow, weasel’s meal appearance has power. Sable is distributed worldwide widely. However, to take the fur very often in the past, the quality of their furs seems to have been captured considerably.

エゾクロテンは完全な肉食ではありません。ウンチを見ると、けっこう植物質のものが混じったりしています。北海道にはアメリカミンクなど多数のイタチ類が帰化したりしていますが、これほど植物質を食べるイタチも珍しいかもしれませんね。
Sable is not a complete eating meat. The one of the plant has mixed considerably when excrement is seen. A lot of weasels such as American mink have been naturalized in Hokkaido. However, the weasel that eats the plant like this might be also rare.

たくましく、生き延びて欲しい。
I want them to survive vigorously.

日本ではアザラシが見る事のできる場所は北海道の一部くらいです。見られるアザラシの多くはゴマフアザラシと、ゼニガタアザラシです。
The place where what the seal sees can be done in Japan is few. And, many of seen seals are Spotted Seal, and Common Seal.

オホーツク地方に5年以上住みました。冬が来るたびにアザラシに会いに行きました。オホーツク周辺の港にはゴマフアザラシがよく来ています。ある日、体の小さなアザラシがいました。ゴマの子供かな？と思いましたが、何か気になったので、
そのアザラシの写真を撮りました。
I lived in the Okhotsk area in Japan and five years passed. It went to the seal to meet whenever winter came. Spotted Seal comes to the port well. One day, there was a seal with a small body. Is he a child of Spotted Seal? I thought. And, the seal’s photograph was taken. When I returned to the house and the photograph was seen in detail, the seal was Ringed Seal.

家に帰って写真を詳しく見ると、そのアザラシはなんとワモンアザラシのようでした。とても会いたかった種類のアザラシでした。
It was a kind of seal that had wanted to be met very much.

最初から判っていれば、もっと沢山写真を撮ったのに。出会いとは意外にあっけないものですね。
More a lot of photographs had been taken if it understood from the beginning. Meeting is the unexpectedly disappointing one.
